Brighton gave Crystal Palace an afternoon they will hear about for years, Manchester City reached seven league wins from seven, and Arsenal needed one shot on target to take three points. Further down the pyramid, Berkhamsted made club history and Ross County found the net seven times away from home.
Brighton finish the derby before everyone has settled
Brighton beat Crystal Palace 5-0 at the Amex on Sunday 18 October. They were 3-0 up inside ten minutes, helped by a Jaydee Canvot own goal, Diego Gómez's shot from around the halfway line and Yasin Ayari's finish.
Babis Kostoulas and Jack Hinshelwood added the other two after the break. Gómez supplied the moment that will keep appearing on phones this week, spotting Walter Benítez off his line and sending the ball over him from distance. Doing that in a derby is a fairly effective way to make sure people remember it.
For the home support, five against Palace is enough to carry an entire Monday. The return journey was rather less appealing for the away end. Our Brighton and Hove Albion 1901 T-shirt keeps the club reference a little simpler.
Seven starts, seven wins for Maresca
Manchester City beat Ipswich 3-2 on Saturday 17 October, making Enzo Maresca the first manager to win the opening seven Premier League matches of a spell in charge of a club.
The previous six-win mark was shared by Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. A week after City's win at Anfield, the perfect league start is still intact. Ipswich made them work for this one, but the record book only needs the result.
Arsenal make their one shot count
Arsenal won 1-0 at Nottingham Forest on Sunday, with substitute Noni Madueke scoring a deflected winner in the 80th minute. It was their first shot on target.
Supporters had waited a long time for a reason to celebrate, and Madueke provided the whole afternoon's return in one attempt. Arsenal left with three points. Forest were left to consider how much defending can fit into a game without producing a result.
Berkhamsted's away end gets its reward
Berkhamsted came from behind to beat Southend United 2-1 at Roots Hall on Saturday and reach the FA Cup first round proper for the first time in their history.
Luke Andrews equalised before half-time, then Jeffrey Sekyere headed the winner in the 88th minute. Six added minutes followed. For the 362 travelling supporters, those minutes must have felt considerably longer than the journey there.
The players and staff went straight to the away fans at the final whistle. A late winner, a first-round place and a club full of people who will remember where they were. That is a proper cup weekend.
Ross County take seven home from Dumfries
Ross County won 7-1 at Queen of the South on Saturday 17 October. The result left them top of Scottish League One on goal difference, level with Hamilton Academical on 28 points after ten games.
County also beat Forfar Athletic 2-1 in the Challenge Cup on Tuesday. Nine goals across two matches is a productive week. Saturday's travelling supporters certainly got plenty to discuss on the way back to Dingwall.
Dates worth keeping clear
There is time to plan for these supporter occasions in the next few weeks.

FA Cup first round proper: weekend of Saturday 7 November 2026
The FA's first-round date is Saturday 7 November, with individual fixtures subject to scheduling. Berkhamsted have earned their place in that weekend's conversation. The qualifying rounds have already given their supporters a story worth keeping.
That is the week: a derby settled in ten minutes, a managerial record, one very useful shot and an away end with a new piece of club history.
